Man arrested following fire

A man has been arrested following a fire at a shop in Burton-upon-Trent. 

We were called just after 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 September) to a shop on Wellington Street following reports of a fire. 

Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. 

Firefighters extinguished a small fire on the first floor and thankfully nobody was reported injured. 

A 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
